Bellissimo Bellagio 🤌

All I can say about Lake Como, and Bellagio in particular, is WOW.  If Shakespeare was here, he wouldn’t be able to top my WOW.  Stunning sights wherever you look, and Bellagio just screams “relax and put your feet up”.

Not much more to add today, so here’s some very happy snaps.

The queue to buy tickets for the ferry from Como to Bellagio was around 1 hour.  There was no guarantee you would get on a ferry even if you had a ticket.  Note to self: don’t travel from Como to Bellagio by ferry on a warm and sunny Sunday in spring.

Little known problem with Bellagio is all the UFOs. Rarely caught on film, but maybe we will be lucky. 

A few final call outs…to Dave and Vicky from Liverpool who we had Apperativo with; to Andy and Pam from California who we joined for pre-dinner drinks; to the US soldier and his Kazakhstani girlfriend that shared a laugh over dinner; and finally to the couple next to us at dinner who got engaged at one of the most beautiful, yet non-corny spots on earth…kudos.

    Isn’t it just stunning! We missed the ferry and had to opt for the bus also but only to Carate luckily.

“Wowee Bruce, the Corks are off to a fast start”

23 hours is a long time to sit in an Economy seat, even on Singapore Airlines. (For those following this blog that don’t know what “Economy” is, it’s the place behind the curtain where you can vaguely hear crying babies, incessant coughing, and the occasional boorish yell…it’s a bit like District 12 in The Hunger Games).  However the prize at the end was always going to be worth the pain of the transfer. For the record I’m giving Singapore an 8.035 for their Economy service. For those interested the Algorithm i used it’s available for sale on Craig’s List.  Rome is amazing.  Landed at 9am, and through customs into the city proper before 10:30.  Unfortunately room wasn’t ready until 2, but the plus side is we wandered aimlessly for 3.5 hours and you can see from the photos below the incredible sites we have visited already. No idea what they were, nor in truth where they were, but they were cool nonetheless.   After that it was off for a late lunch / early dinner at Salumeria Con Cucina

The Art of Getting Lost

 You don’t really know a city until you’ve got lost in it. We know Roma really well now.  With a vague plan and a paper map in hand we set out a little before 7am thinking to idle away some time seeing lots of interesting old shit.  Our eventual path took in the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain (apparently the natural home of the Tik Tok star which seemed to have bred like rabbits even by 7:20 in the morning), the Spanish Steps (awesome at 8am), Villa Borghase, the Obelisk in some random Piazza, some dead blokes Mausoleum, Campo di Fiore, and the 1.5 million churches which call Roma home.   (On a side note, when my final days are coming I’m relocating to Rome, knowing that I can never be more then 30m from the entry to a church for a speedy death-bed confession, absolution, and fast-track to paradise.  Surely the ultimate dodge!)  Our eventual route this morning in the hands of Mr Squiggle would possibly form the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.  The natural home of the Tik Toker, The Trevi Foun
